A Note On Skincare

Published on 1 February 2026 at 14:32

I’ve recently been trying to get into skin care, even though I’ve never been the type to follow long routines. Doing something every morning and night always felt like too much effort.

I started noticing flaky skin between my eyebrows whenever I wore make-up, which didn’t make sense because my skin is quite oily. No matter how much moisturiser I used, it never really helped.

So this year I decided to find skin care that is quick, easy, and stays affordable.

First Steps

The first thing I did when looking for the products I may need was speak to my friend, who is a complete skin-care fanatic. She was horrified to find out my entire routine was just water and cocoa butter. Apparently that wasn’t good enough I needed the items below:

  1. Cleanser  - A product used to wash your face and remove any make up, dirt or oil
  2. Toner - A liquid applied after cleansing that helps rejuvenate skin and remove any leftover residue
  3. Serum - a lightweight product that's concentrated for skin concerns ie: Spots or dry skin
  4. Moisturiser  - A lotion that hydrates skin and keep it soft and protected especially if high in SPF

Finding The Routine

Taking the advice on which products I needed, I decided to research which brands actually suited me. I then sat down and looked through routines on YouTube and TikTok, but most of what I found felt like far too much effort. That’s when I created my own.

1. First I start with a cleanser, I use a pea-sized amount and massage it into my skin until it becomes foamy. Then with a wet  cloth with warm water I gently wipe it off my face.

2. Next, once my face has air-dried, I take a cotton pad and add a few drops of toner to it, wiping it around my face making sure to avoid the eye area.

3.  After that I use a serum. Using the pipette, I place a small droplet on my forehead, cheeks and chin, then massage it in with my fingertips.

4. Lastly, once the serum has soaked in, I apply a moisturiser that is high in SPF to lock everything in and stop my skin from drying out but also protects my skin from the sun.
